Tatreez means needle work in Arabic language and these earrings are made of recycled cross stitch cushion covers made by Palestinian refugees over 20 years ago.
Many years ago, my mom started collecting these Palestinian cross stitch cushions. She was so impressed by the intricate and beautiful work of Um Ibrahim, a Palestinian refugee living in Jordan. Um Ibrahim, wanted to keep her heritage and memory of her Palestinian ancestors alive by teaching other women in her refugee community the Palestinian cross stitch. Years later, my mother passed on this beautiful piece to me and with time and use this cushion started wearing off and it was no longer in good shape to be display around the house however I wanted to make use of this beautiful piece and share the story of this rich heritage so I turned them into wearable art pieces that would travel the world and tell the story of Um Ibrahim and her beautiful heritage.
Limited pieces for you to stand out and share the story.
Suitable for pierced ears.
